RVTDocs is a free reference site that makes the Revit API documentation easier to browse, search and compare across versions. These terms keep things fair and clear for everyone. The short version: the service is free, be a decent person, your code and comments stay yours, and nothing here is affiliated with Autodesk.

About This Service

RVTDocs (this website) is operated by Erik Frits, an independent software developer based in Austria. It is a free, developer-facing reference for the Revit API. There are no paid features, no subscriptions and no ads.

By using the site, or by creating an account, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The API reference content on this site is derived from the official Revit API documentation published by Autodesk. That documentation, including its text and structure, remains the property of Autodesk, Inc. This site republishes it for one purpose only: making it easier for developers to read, search and compare. No ownership of that material is claimed.

If you are a rights holder and believe any content on this site should be removed or corrected, contact support@learnrevitapi.com and it will be handled promptly.

Your Account

Accounts are optional. You only need one to use the community features: sharing code snippets, commenting, saving bookmarks and earning XP.

  • Sign-in works exclusively through Google or GitHub (OAuth). This site never sees or stores a password for you.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Keep your Google or GitHub account secure.
  • Accounts that break these terms may be suspended or removed.

You can request deletion of your account at any time by emailing support@learnrevitapi.com.

Your Content

Content you post (code snippets, comments, profile details) remains yours. By posting it you grant this site a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and distribute that content as part of the service. This license exists so the site can actually show your contributions to others; it ends for content you delete, except for short-lived copies in backups.

  • Only post content you have the right to share.
  • Public snippets are visible to everyone and other developers may read and reuse them in their own projects, at their own risk.
  • Content that breaks these terms may be removed by moderators.
Acceptable Use

Keep it useful and keep it legal. Do not:

  • post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing or impersonates someone else;
  • post malware or intentionally harmful code;
  • spam comments or snippets, or flood the site with promotional content;
  • scrape the site at rates that degrade it for others;
  • probe, attack or attempt to disrupt the service or other users' accounts.
No Warranty, Limitation of Liability

The service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". No guarantee is made that the documentation is accurate, complete or current, that the site will be available without interruption, or that any code sample (official or user-contributed) is fit for any purpose. Always test code before using it in production. When in doubt, verify against Autodesk's official documentation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and mandatory statutory rights (including consumer rights in the EU) remain unaffected.

Changes and Termination

Features may change, be added or be discontinued at any time; the service is free and evolves continuously. These terms may also be updated. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision, and significant changes will be announced on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

You can stop using the site at any time. The operator may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or harm the service or its users.

Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Austria. If you are a consumer in the EU, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
